I was able to complete the buying menus for cows, goats, and chickens. I don’t have the art for male animals yet so I’m going to hold off a bit on breeding. Instead, I have turned my focus to gardening.
Today I was able to get the bones of a gardening system in place. The player can till soil, add fertilizer to increase the soil quality, water plants, and the plant will grow. Weather and rain are taken into account when growing. Planting crops will be allowed in all areas of the town. It took some doing but at the moment it seems to be working perfectly. I need to do some further testing before I start adding more crops though.
I had my siblings test out the current build. They provided some helpful feedback. I will be re-thinking the HUD and how to convey the town resource information. They all commented that the screen seemed too cluttered. They were also able to find quite a few bugs that I hadn’t uncovered yet. I fixed the bugs that were found and made some other minor tweaks to things.
Tomorrow I will continue to refine gardening and implement it across the various areas of the world. I will probably add a couple of crops then do a very thorough round of testing. I only have six days left of my break so I am hoping I can get spring crops finished, at the least. I would also like to work on shops and their functions more. Many shops aren’t functional at the moment.
